About the event
Our Fall 2019 concert presents a collection of choral works for women’s voices with texts that inspire hope and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit.
The central work will be the seven-movement work Anne Frank: A Living Voice for treble voices and string quartet by contemporary American composer Linda Tutas Haugen. Based on selected entries from The Diary of Anne Frank, the texts and music portray Anne’s psychological progression from fear and despair to strength and hope.
Other works planned for this concert include Fire Flowers (Movement #3 from the suite Heart Songs of the White Wampum) by Timothy Corlis, A Hope Carol by David Conte, I Shall Keep Singing by Brain Holmes, Starting Now by Jocelyn Hagen, and Light of a Clear Blue Morning by Dolly Parton, arranged by Craig Hella Johnson.
