singing with us?
Auditions are scheduled with the Artistic Director by appointment and are held at First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Arlington; 630 Massachusetts Ave; Arlington, MA at the beginning of September and again in January. (The building is fully accessible and the location is served by public transit - see location page)
Auditions take approximately 15 minutes. Our Artistic Director will want to get to know your voice through vocalization, pitch-matching, and sight-reading. Singers will be asked to sing a familiar tune or may choose to prepare a simple song to demonstrate vocal quality. (Our accompanist will not be present at auditions.) A few Cantilena singers will be present during auditions and will be glad to answer any questions you may have that evening.
Auditionees will be invited to sing in a rehearsal with the group. Invitations for membership will be extended based on the results of both the audition and rehearsal.
